Hi All,

I'm hoping that at least one of you have researched and solved the problem
that I am experiencing when running the latest released versions of cywin
and rsync on Windows 2000. I am running rsync as a daemon on W2K and rsync
as a client on W2K. Using a very simple test, "rsync servername::", the
client displays varying portions of the expected output (the available
modules list). That is, anywhere from zero modules to the full list of
modules is displayed. The last line of output always contains "Connection
reset by peer".

These same symptoms are also observed with combinations of various versions
of the cygwin1.dll and rsync. I have tested pre-compiled rsync.exe versions
and I have compiled the rsync sources under cygwin and gcc.

The only configuration that does not exhibit these symptoms is the
pre-compiled combination of rsync-2.4.2 and cygwin1.dll dated 4-7-200 and
listed as file version 1001.1.0.0.

I am very interested in establishing the capability to build the latest (and
future) rsync versions from sources under cygwin. I would appreciate any
guidance that anyone may provide that will allow me to do this. Patches,
comments, and pointers will be gratefully accepted.

I hope I have provided sufficient information here. If not, please don't
hesitate to request much more detail.

Thank you,

Randy O'Meara
