I cannot use the rsync 2.5.2 which comes with Mac OS X 10.1.5 for backing up
files from a Mac OS X machine to a Windows 2000 file server since rsync
fails ("mkstemp ... failed") whenever a folder name contains one of the
characters '=', '/', '?'. ';' in file names also seems to cause harm. These are legal folder/file names on a Macintosh, so I would expect rsync to handle them in a reasonable way, e.g. translate them to POSIX-compliant names.
