Dave,

My sending host is SSH Version OpenSSH_2.1.1, protocol versions
1.5/2.0.   (Solaris7)

My destination hosts are SSH Version OpenSSH_2.1.1, protocol versions
1.5/2.0.  (linux 2.2.17)

In both cases it appears that ssh was compiled with the USE_PIPES
disabled.

[herc]:~/ssh/openssh-2.1.1p4 >grep PIPE *

acconfig.h:/* Use PIPES instead of a socketpair() */
acconfig.h:#undef USE_PIPES
includes.h:/* #define USE_PIPES 1
*/

Thanks,
eric
