ACtually, there is a lot to learn from this.

I didn't use Julian's patch. I wrote my own version of something not all 
too different (better handling of error codes, but otherwise similar).

But that is not to say that Julian's work was meaningless. The fact he 
did send a list of what needs to change pointed me in the right 
direction, helping much in fixing the problem.

Lesson: Send what you got, even if it's incomplete.
