Hi all,

We have just released rsyslog 5.5.1, a member of the v5-devel branch. The
primary new feature is that the epoll() interface is now supported for plain
tcp syslog. This results in better performance and also removes the upper
bound of connections in select() in a portable way. The select() interface is
still supported for platforms that do not provide epoll(). There are also
some important fixes. It is a recommended update for all users of the
v5-beta. See Changelog for more details.

As always, feedback is appreciated.

Improving rsyslog is costly, but you can help! We are looking for
organizations that find rsyslog useful and wish to contribute back. You can
contribute by reporting bugs, improve the software, or donate money or
equipment.

Commercial support contracts for rsyslog are available, and they help finance
continued maintenance. Adiscon GmbH, a privately held German company, is
currently funding rsyslog development. We are always looking for interesting
development projects. For details on how to help, please see
http://www.rsyslog.com/doc-how2help.html .
