I have a reoccurring issue with rsyslog where it stops logging. From the
logs it seems like it is related to a restart that happens around the
same time:

r...@host:~# rsyslogd -v
rsyslogd 3.18.1, compiled with:
     FEATURE_REGEXP: Yes
     FEATURE_LARGEFILE: Yes
     FEATURE_NETZIP (message compression): Yes
     GSSAPI Kerberos 5 support: No
FEATURE_DEBUG (debug build, slow code): No
     Runtime Instrumentation (slow code): No

Dec 5 07:06:39 HOST kernel: Kernel logging (proc) stopped.
Dec 5 07:06:39 HOST kernel: imklog 3.18.1, log source = /proc/kmsg started.
Dec 5 07:06:39 HOST rsyslogd: [origin software="rsyslogd"
swVersion="3.18.1" x-pid="13376" x-info="http://www.rsyslog.com";] restart

I am unsure of the reason for the restart in the first place, in
addition the kernel logging stopping. Although I assume it is likely
when rsyslog rotates the logs, but it doesn't happen consistently nor at
the same time each time I've experienced it. Could this be related to
the known startup race condition bug that I've seen stuff about?

Thanks!

-Joe
