No. I initially planned to have a 4.4.3, but Monday, when I tried to prepare it, I found some issues in the automated test suite. Whatever they were, they were fixed in 4.6.0. So I skipped that release, saving me the time to find what already is fixed (the original plan was to do a last 4.4.3 release followed by 4.6.0 two days later, so I only skipped the 4.4.3 step). > and > the 4.6.0 release seems to say that there will not be any 4.x releases > any more. The web page says 4.6.0 is a stable release and a beta at > the same time, which is very confusing for me. > > http://www.rsyslog.com/Article443.phtml Thanks for pointing that out. That's a simple typo, now corrected. > > The top says "Version 4.6.0 [v4-beta] (rgerhards), 2010-02-24" which > means it is a beta, but then the text on the page also says "This is a > new stable v4 version." and "Do not expect any more new developments > in v4.". I'm a bit confused. Does this mean if we want bugfixes we > have to run a 5.x version? Bugfixes are not "new developments", at least in my point of view. But if you need some new feature, you need to run v5 if we implement it. That's the way it was always handled in rsyslog, with the exception of v4 and v5, which had two different development branches at the same time. There were good reasons for that, but it also caused a lot of work and some issues. I am very happy to be back to a single development version again. I won't split off a new second development branch again until there is *very* good reason. I hope this clarifies.
