I am re-using this thread after talking with Victor.

I have today looked at mongodb myself. I integrated the plugin with the build
system and have also seen that I can get things at least to recompile.

I am a bit stunned about the state of the mongodb c driver: it looks like it
does not provide any API backwards compatibility. I have read that it is
alpha and nothing is guaranteed, but it is still very surprising to see such
big compatibility issues inside the lib. So far, ommongodb seems to compile
only with v0.2, but not with 0.1, 0.3, or the current 0.4.

@victor: do you know if this conclusion is right? Or did I just mess up with
something?

Any other feedback is also appreciated. I wonder, given the current state of
affairs, if it is possible to actually create a plugin that is usable across
a larger set of environments.
