It sounds a bit strange to me, too. But if you think of it, from rsyslog's
point of view it makes sense: time is either generated by rsyslog or
reported by the app.

I guess so, but then if one has to change that property name, the old name
would still have to be supported. So we'll end up with 3 names, and that
would be really confusing. And besides changing the property name, I don't
see a good "fix".
