I'm just testing with your patch now, and it might have fixed the crash I was seeing. It could also explain why I was only seeing the crash with logsmash: that chooses the severity & priority values at random, so it wasn't triggering until it happened to pick EMERG. It let the patched version run for a few hours and see if I can crash it now... -- Kristian Van Der Vliet
