I have an installation where it would be very useful to be able to run a
high-performance syslog server on Windows. Unfortunately, when I took a look
at the options about a year ago, there weren't any that really fit the bill, so
I'm making things work with rsyslog on CentOS. Rsyslog is really, really good,
and I love it, but I'd still like to be able to run Windows as my OS when I
need to.
I'm looking for something like rsyslog for Windows, with the DA queues,
text-file configuration, high-performance, etc.. I don't need a built-in
syslog viewer and stuff like that. I just need to be able to:
- Receive and process 100K MPS of UDP or TCP
- Perform filtering of incoming messages
- Write messages to a file
- Forward messages to another destination (via TCP or UDP)
Winsyslog looks OK, but it doesn't have a DA queue, it's just a pure disk
queue, plus it's got a built-in viewer, and all that stuff, and I'm not sure
where it caps out in MPS (I'm testing that now).
There are other competitors that look OK as well, but all seem to suffer from
various issues. So, I'm wondering if anyone else has any experience with
Windows based syslog servers they could share.
Thanks!
Robert
