Well, a code contributor needs to do more work: find two repositories and correct branches, craft two patches, and send them both to the maillist. If there is a proper guide ("How to contribute"), all this is fairly simple, though not obvious.
And then, one person ("committer") will need to commit both patches into both repositories at the same time...
Ok, no big deal, let us try and see. For the moment, separate doc project is right thing.
