Ranier:
I re-enabled $IncludeConfig /etc/rsyslog.d/*.conf
in /etc/rsyslog.conf and added
## Debugging
syslog.* /var/log/syslogd.log
to it also and started the service:
contents of /var/log/syslogd.log are
Sep 25 13:13:19 dorkblog rsyslogd: [origin software="rsyslogd"
swVersion="3.22.1" x-pid="24585" x-info="http://www.rsyslog.com";] (re)start
I then stopped the service as I caught the /var/log/messages file
blowing up to 6G earlier.
