Hi, I am getting reports from multiple users (on Gentoo) and see this problem in my own rsyslog setups I am managing, too:
If I restart a systems 30 times, at least 1 restart will fail on startup (you have to reset the system) while starting rsyslog. Sounds like http://thread.gmane.org/gmane.comp.sysutils.rsyslog/15138 We see this with rsyslog-8.4.2. Our configuration: http://sources.gentoo.org/cgi-bin/viewvc.cgi/gentoo-x86/app-admin/rsyslog/files/8-stable/rsyslog.conf?view=markup http://sources.gentoo.org/cgi-bin/viewvc.cgi/gentoo-x86/app-admin/rsyslog/files/8-stable/50-default.conf?view=markup I don't know what to do at the moment. As said this only happens on system boot. But when it happens, you have to reset the system. All I see are the last lines from our runscript: * Checking rsyslogd's configuration ... [ OK ] * Starting rsyslog ... Screenshot: http://f.666kb.com/i/csskv130fygj41vhm.jpg It is important to know: "Checking rsyslogd's configuration [ OK ]" means that executing rsyslogd with "-N 999 -f /etc/rsyslog.conf" was successful. "Starting rsyslog" is our normal service start... See our runscript (http://sources.gentoo.org/cgi-bin/viewvc.cgi/gentoo-x86/app-admin/rsyslog/files/8-stable/rsyslog.initd?view=markup) for more information. -Thomas _______________________________________________ rsyslog mailing list http://lists.adiscon.net/mailman/listinfo/rsyslog http://www.rsyslog.com/professional-services/ What's up with rsyslog?
