That's a good question. One the one hand, a variable that explicity gives the filename gives the most flexibility, but combining it with the input name probably makes for a simpler config and is close enough to "do the right think automatically" that it would satisfy new users the vast majority of the time.

the "best" answer would probably be to allow the input name to have a %% in it that gets replaced by the filename, and have a separate filename variable. But that's probably a bit on the messy side to implement.
