Anything that was done in the v5 devel branch would be standard in v6 or later.

You really should upgrade your systems to a newer version. V5.x is very old (current is v8.6), and even within the 5.x branches, 5.6 is rather old, there were a lot of fixes before the end of the 5.x series.
