the HUP, but nbd... :-)

the pstats file output is a backdoor that bypasses all normal processing (to get the logs out somewhere in the case where other things may be going wrong), as such it would be a lot of work to add this.

Most people can just let the pstats data go into the normal log stream and be processed with all the other logs. it's only when you have things being sent to places that may block or are paranoid that you end up really worrying about getting the pstats even when other things are not working.
