It is not about the time it takes to compile. A parallel build issue is a bug: A missing dependency in a Makefile. On source-based systems (like Gentoo, *BSD) it is common that people set their make options to match their numbers of CPU/cores... so yes, before I can add this to portage I have to fix it. I thought that when showing the bad commit (https://github.com/rsyslog/rsyslog/commit/fb4fd2ddd2f08380ad65a8cafc5f124890b136ad) you or someone else familiar with the Makefile and all the targets would just see "Oh yes, we forgot to make sure that target $foo builds only after target $bar"... (5min to fix if you know all the targets). I don't have the time to look into this right now (I don't know all the targets so I have to understand the Makefile first) but if nobody else has the time too, I'll do that next week.
