[rsyslog] Comparing two variables, is that supposed to work?

This does not appear to work on v8.14.0:

set $.foo = "foo";
set $.bar = "foo";
if ($.foo == $.bar) then {
    *.* /var/log/rsyslog-debug.log;RSYSLOG_DebugFormat
}

Should it?
