That would be great! Unfortunately, I do not have details on where Florian is working on and he has left the office. But we can look into it tomorrow. As a side-note, we are always looking for team members for the packaging project. We are far from experts in that area and good know how really helps ;) The issue I have identified todo is a race bug in json-c, which can affect rsyslog in some situations and even lead to segfaults. I have forked json-c for various reasons a couple of weeks ago and have a patched this version (libfastjson) today. We consider packaging the build with libfastjson rather than json-c (especially given the fact that json-c releases every 18 month or so).
