I don't know how your build environment looks like but

should be fine when you your build environment will set it to the right
value.


Again,

indicates that your environment is using an invalid (incompatible) "as"
version. Check your binutils.
Make sure you have the right version installed and that you are really
calling the right version.

Don't forget to check your CFLAGS, CXXFALGS, LDFLAGS...
