Hello,
I would like to access the IP address of the local machine and send it to
Elasticsearch along with other log data. I found Rainer talking about this in
his blog back in 2012

but I am unable to find any information on how to do this in rsyslog 8.x.
The problem is that there is no way of knowing the proper IP to use if your box
has several of them (and if you include IPv6 addresses, you probably have 4+ on
your system right now)
so defining what "the local IP is" is not a solvable problem in the general
case.
The best you can really do is to get $$myhostname and do a name lookup on it.
