rsyslog v5 is ancient and not really supported by the community any longer (current version is v8.18)

But in any case you would have to give us more information to figure out what's going on.

In general, the first things you do to troubleshoot are:

1. check for syntax errors "rsyslogd -N3" or similar

2. log with the format RSYSLOG_DebugFormat so that you can see what variables contain what values so that you can check that your filters match the variable contents.

A customer of mine (where I'm a contractor) has reported issues with
rsyslog v5. After a yum update it is still not reporting ssh logins to
/var/log/secure although the configuration is set for that.

I'm interested in gaining an informed triage of this issue and then perhaps
what other versions may help that is better than struggling with this
default arrangement and may benefit from AWS they are using.

Your assistance would be appreciated.
