in the documentation, it says:
Note that mmnormalize should only be called once on each message. Behaviour is
undefined if multiple calls to mmnormalize happen for the same message.
why would this be the case? Is this actually the case?
There are a cases where it makes sense to call mmnormalize more than once with
different rulesets/parameters
