No, actually parentheses are not necessary due, I think, to order of
precedence.
regexp '^systems|helpdesk|[EMAIL PROTECTED]' matches:
1) any email address that starts with "systems", for example "[EMAIL PROTECTED]"
2) any email address that has substring "helpdesk", for example
"[EMAIL PROTECTED]" or "[EMAIL PROTECTED]"
3) and any email that contains "webmaster" in name part and domain is
"domain.edu", for example "[EMAIL PROTECTED]"
