I found the answer in here http://requesttracker.wikia.com/wiki/PostQuestionsHere I forgot to configure with those switches. root@lucid:~# ./configure --with-web-user=www-data --with-web-group=www-data Now mason_data/{cache,obj} are showing owned by www-data.
