Job Title: SQL Developer Location: Memphis, TN Duration: 11 Months Contract *Must have Skills: VBA Excel, SQL (SQL Server), Active Data Objects (Excel to SQL Server).* *Job Description: * The MS SQL Developer is responsible for the development of MS SQL code and processes that ensure the completeness and quality of the necessary data sources in support of analytics and field sales reporting. The developer has to be very strong in the following areas: a) MS SQL technical knowledge b) Ability to understand business requirements c) Ability to understand Python code – nice to have, not required d) Very good communication skills e) Very good documentation practice *Essential Functions:* Design and implement back end reporting data mart structure in support of sales reporting processes. Understand, build and modify complex SQL stored procedures. This includes understanding what the current code does. 70% Perform quality and completeness checks of data and reporting systems on a weekly basis. Manage third party data providers and processors to satisfy business requirements and data quality. 10% Design new or modify existing data structures to streamline processes and/or validate inputs from external customers or third party providers 10% Support analytics team by recommending and teaching best practices so that reporting deliverables are efficient, repeatable, and sustainable. 10% *Day to Day Activities:* a) Understand the SQL Stored procedure and small Python code that already exists in our application b) Understand problem statements from business users. c) Debug the existing code and apply code fixes considering all the scenarios. d) Identify and resolve issues related to daily scheduled jobs. e) Make recommendations and apply best design principles to the application. f) Performance tuning g) Document the existing data model and essentially prepare a technical specification document for the system that can be understood by business users. *Education:* Bachelor's Degree preferred Licenses/Certifications *Experience: * 7+ years of related experience with data management and business intelligence platforms, analysis and business planning. *Competencies:* *Experience with relational database concepts, SQL, SQL stored procedures, SQL Server Management Studio, Excel, Access, Python.
