Senior Software Developer will be responsible for research, design, test, code, implement and maintain software systems to meet DOA internal and external needs. Use a variety of computer programming languages and applications, working in teams with other IT professionals, or alone.
Work activities will include the following:
- researching, designing, writing and testing new software programs;
- upgrading existing systems by analyzing and identifying areas for modification;
- integrating existing software products (getting incompatible platforms to work together and creating code to link them);
- maintaining systems by monitoring, identifying and correcting software defects;
- investigating new technologies;
- creating software technical specifications and test plans;
- working with computer coding languages;
- writing operational documentation with technical authors;
- working closely with other staff, such as project managers, business analyst, systems analysts, and other divisions such as P&D, HR, Business and Finance;
- consulting clients/colleagues concerning the maintenance and performance of software systems and asking questions to obtain information, clarify details and implement information;
- constantly updating technical knowledge and skills by attending in-house and/or external courses, reading manuals and accessing new applications;
- problem-solving and thinking laterally as part of a team, or individually, to meet the needs of the project
Candidates will need to show evidence of the following:
- technical competency;
- knowledge of various applications and software development tools;
- an awareness of current issues affecting the industry and its technologies;
- enthusiasm and knowledge of project lifecycles;
- analytical skills;
- attention to detail, even in pressure situations as deadlines approach;
- a logical mind;
- good interpersonal and communication skills (especially the ability to understand client needs and communicate your proposed solutions to them effectively).
Requirements
BS degree in Computer Science/Software Engineering (or equivalent) field or 5 years of work experience\software programming which includes software development or systems engineering. Strong Development Experience using asp.net, VB, C++, WordPress, IIS setup and configuration, Cloud Flare based experience, Blue host or other related hosting solutions, Google analytics, Word Press, and web performance monitoring. Very strong technical skills in debugging web based application issues, strong coding and database background, to include reporting coding and integration.
