Role: Data Engineering & Validation Specialist Location: South San Francisco, CA Long Term Contract NOTE : Looking for candidates local to the Bay Area only. Summary: Data Engineering & Validation Specialist is responsible for developing and scaling a R&D Analytics Data Platform that enables real-time analytics of clinical, operational, and commercial data for a Biopharmaceutical company. Responsibilities: . Develop platform capabilities to drive analytics for various groups in Clinical Development, Biology, Discovery, Clinical Operations and Pharma covigilance . Work with various data teams including Data Management, Biometrics, Safety, Clinical Development, Clinical Operations and Medical Affairs to enable real-time data processing and decisions . Work closely with data scientists to review, understand and support their data requirements for optimal data science / analytic capabilities . Collaborate closely with regional teams including system analysts, architects, engineers and other cross-functional stakeholders . Translate analytics functional specifications into detailed data flow diagrams, processing steps, and logic per process . Generate validation logic to test data at each step of the data flow . Identify, research and resolve information conflicts and inconsistencies . Analyze, interpret, reconcile and validate information from multiple sources and formats to discern relevancy and consistency . Structure relevant information into a consistent, concise, informative, thorough and uniform format . Maintain a high level of awareness of new model releases, revisions and trends . Work with QA to support testing . Develop reports for communicating the analytic ready state of the data or other derived information . Own the process and tasks for data issue identification, remediation and resolution . Build awareness and understanding of R&D Analytics across the organization Qualifications: . A strong programming/ systems integration/ software engineering background . Proficiency: SQL, Hadoop, Hive, Spark, Python, and/or Unix/Shell scripting . Experience with creating data pipelines . Exposure to data visualization tools is preferred . Strong analytical skills; creative and relentless problem solver . Strong organizational skills with the ability to thrive in a high degree of cross-functional collaboration . Excellent verbal and written communication skills . Detail-oriented, unfazed by technical detail, committed to flawless execution . Team player; ability to interface and build relations at all levels internally and externally . Skilled at developing detailed technical documentation . Minimum of 5 years U.S. based work experience in large enterprise companies; ideally in a data analyst / data engineering role .
