*Position : SAP ABAP resource with heavy performance tuning*
*Location : Bloomington, IL (about 2 hrs south of Chicago). *
Interviews times are Tuesday and Thursday afternoon this week. One role
will start ASAP with a 2nd role starting end of October.
*Notes from my call with the manager*
At the high level, we are going live in ECC 6.0 and now in Year 3 of 4 for
this SAP migration. Our legacy system was a home grown Oracle based ERP
system and now SAP is the SI that has moved them to SAP . They have
currently moved 2/3rds of the business units over and in the 1st week of
Dec, the last part moves over to SAP. The client has been working with SI
(SAP) to do this, but after hyper-care, they will be taking over support
for business units and provide clean up to help support other groups moving
forward. There are a few internal employees helping those teams in
production and they want to add capacity to take over additional work and
move forward after go live. SAP has an off shore development team and also
onsite project teams who they will be losing. Current team has
developers that take care of (User exits, TM, IS oil), and new groups
onboarded will have more SD, MM, GTM (Global Trade Management), EWM and TM
used for integration for route loads. They use ALM for defect management
but this can tool can be taught
In the old system, the employees were very good at creating queries,
performance tuning and search results but with the new system they are
having issues here; Queries are taking too long and not returning the right
data. Half of all of SAP transactions are order touching and taking too
long to get results back. The client would also like to add additional
functional such as being able to get a user exit to trigger an auto
populate transaction or do a bulk. They need a person strong in
Performance tuning large record sets with the module background secondary
(within SD, MM, GTM, EWM or TM). There is a back log of work around
performance tuning that will be the immediate requests and as they lose the
SI this new team will take over all RICEFW development. These new
consultants won’t be getting detailed specs and some examples of the
transactions, so they need to be able to work in an ambiguous environment.
