This is an opportunity for a truly "hands-on" developer with instrument control expertise and interest in developing both application software and embedded software. Our flagship research software powers industry-leading, ground breaking medical instruments that take cell research to new levels. Your deep Java development experience is paired with knowledge of embedded systems and you are comfortable with the interplay of the two. You've "brought up" new features in concert on an instrument and in an application. *Job Responsibilities:* · Work directly with product teams producing new research instruments and introducing new software features. · Collaborate across silos with R&D scientists, mechanical, electrical, manufacturing, and service engineers, technical writers, application specialists. · Debug software against actual hardware and simulators · Learn our domain of research and clinical applications of flow cytometry. · Mentor and train team members on designing, coding and debugging. · Understand, practice and apply OOP, SOLID, Design Patterns. · Document requirements, use cases, and designs. · Participate in grooming new features and product improvements. · Analyze failures and fix bugs. *Minimum Qualifications:* *Experience and Education:* · Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or Life Sciences related field. Master's degree preferred. · We welcome applicants with scientific or biomedical academic degrees and demonstrated expertise in software development. · Minimum of 10 years' industry experience in software development. · Minimum of 6 years' experience in Java, Java Frameworks and APIs. · Experience with instrument control, and real-time data acquisition and data display · Meaningful experience with Eclipse, Swing, TCP, UART · Compelling experience applying software design, data structures, algorithms and architectural practices to the solution of real-world problems. · Demonstrated ability to communicate, collaborate, mentor and learn. · Experience developing full-featured applications. · Extensive experience with unit testing and solid understanding of TDD. *Assets:* · Embedded Linux · Firmware · C# · Image processing · Experience with Agile methodology and/or Scrum Master certification preferred.
