Job Description

Role: Build and Release Engineer

Duration: 12 Months Contract

Location: Redmond, WA

 

Description:

The primary duties include driving the day to day work for creating and supporting tools used by the release team and supporting product builds. Key responsibilities include:

 

Operational:

  • Update tools and scripts for new branches and releases
  • Manage codeflow (RI/FI) for branches
  • Kickoff builds - both on demand and on a pre-defined schedule
  • Monitor builds for breaks/errors, when build breaks occur look for fixes in other branches and apply these and resume the build
  • Monitor quality gates and drive these to completion
  • Coordinate with partner teams for their deliverables contributing into the overall workflow
  • Publish reference sources for .NET

 

Other:

  • Support the Roslyn and VS test orgs with their producing builds and smoke test/validation for these
  • Drive self-host effort for branches including sending out build updates, monitor build usage and drive this up

 

Tools and Development:

  • Create and maintain tooling and automation used by the release team
  • Customer feedback gathering tool (Surf)
  • Release Health dashboard (Shipready)
  • Reference sources tooling

 

Key skills and experience needed:

  • 4-5 years as a developer/software engineer writing C#/managed apps
  • Experience with short release cycles and rapid customer response is a big plus
  • Excellent verbal and written communication and ability to work independently and as part of a team
