*Position : Unix Admin* *Location : Dallas - TX* *Job Description* L3 engineer –UNIX/Linux will take responsibility for ensuring availability of the UNIX infrastructure in the clients’ environment through pro-active and reactive tasks, troubleshooting and administration. This individual will support clients’ across the globe and provide timely and quality level 3 technical operations support. *Roles and responsibilities* Administer, maintain and support Linux (RHEL/Suse) operating systems and exposure to other UNIX flavours would be advantage. Perform migration activities like OS migration, on premise to cloud migration, datacenter migration Demonstrate knowledge of cloud architecture and implementation features Demonstrate knowledge of DevOps tool chains and processes Resolve major incidents and technical escalations within agreed SLAs and quality. Problem Management: Perform root cause analysis for problems and major incidents, provide workarounds to ensure business continuity and prepare RCA reports. Change Management: Prepare Implementation plan, rollback plan and test plan, risk and impact analysis for critical or complex changes. Review the change plan and documentation prepared by level 2 engineers or peers. Participate in CAB meetings as needed and assist change manager in techno-operations decision process Install hardware and software, maintain appropriate service levels, performance tuning and firmware upgrades across multiple hardware platforms. Perform advance tasks such as, capacity planning, performance monitoring, provide recommendations for improvement and implement or oversee implementation of the recommendations. Perform system software upgrades including planning / scheduling, testing, coordination, and maintaining integrity of operating system environment. Harden operating system parameters in line with client / Dimension Data security policy, standards or best practices. Respond to outages both during normal business hours and after-hours on a need basis (on-call support). Documentation, knowledge sharing and training of junior members. Coordinating and interfacing with outside vendors, end users, other department team members, and service providers to resolve issues. Analyse data, oversee and contribute to service improvements.
