We chose not to do one tree per key, although I suppose we can

hard to change to one Rbtree per Key Object.
Ok, this is not that important. My thought was that a local tree may
have benefits on SMP if we add fine grained locking. There are so many
SMP problems ahead, that this hardly matters now.
