..... Original Message .....From: "Jamie Watts" <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> My question is, other than me, are there any BAMA fans on this here list that are just "fans"?
I have been "just a fan" since 1958. I was in the Army and stationed in Texas in 1957 and became a fan of Coach Bryant after attending a few of his games at aTm. I was transferred to Fort Rucker and later to Fort McClellan about the same time as "Coach" arrived at UA. Needless to say, I immediately became a "BamaFan"....... Later, I married a "Fine Young Lady" from Anniston and between the two *It just don't get any better than that*!!
Ok, VO, ya got me by a long time, but I still like my story.
Yup, if you haven't guessed it by now, the list's token damn Yankee, smile when you say that, is just another fan.
I was born and raised in the armpit of America next to Mr. Anthony Soprano, New Joisey. Somehow, probably because I recognized greatness early in life, I became a fan of CPB, and by extension a BamaFan. By the time I was 4 I was yelling, "ROOOLLLTIDE!" much to the cornfusion of my mother.
30 years later, Mom is still too cornfused to explain why I root for 'Bama. Though the late '70s games against PennSt, may help explain it. My Old Man, through no scholastic attachment was a PSU fan, beating PSU just helped me on my way.
The only other way to explain why I love 'Bama is that I used to be a NYJets fan. At the time the Jets had Joe Namath, Richard Todd, and Marty Lyons. Somehow I made the connection between my favorite Jet players and their college team. Anyone know where those guys played in college and who they played for? I don't remember. :-)
On another note, I need to get back to a game in T-Town. When is the HWFC meeting this year?
John
