FROM FAYETTEVILLE: 6 PM NEWS CONFERENCE SCHEDULED
Despite a tempting offer, reported to be in the neighborhood of $ 2 million dollars,
to be the coach of the University of Nebraska, indications are that Houston Nutt will
announce that he will be staying on as head coach of the Arkansas Razorback football
team at a 6:00 p.m. press conference.

Todays THV will carry that press conference live at 6:00 p.m.

The first indication that Nutt may be staying on as Arkansas’ coach were reports
Friday afternoon that he was calling recruits and telling them he was staying on.

Arkansas finished 9-4 this year, Nutt's third nine-win season in six years, after
beating Missouri 27-14 in the Independence Bowl on Wednesday. Besides beating Missouri
from the Big 12, the Razorbacks also defeated Texas this year; giving Nutt wins over
two teams that beat Nebraska this year.

Broyles gave Nebraska permission to speak with Nutt after Arkansas' victory over
Missouri. Nutt said Thursday morning after the victory that he hadn't talked with
anyone from Nebraska, but he met with Pederson in Fayetteville on Thursday evening.

Nutt has a 48-27 record over six years at Arkansas. He is 84-49 in his 11-year career,
which includes four years at Murray State, where he made two trips to the NCAA
Division I-AA playoffs, and one year at Boise State.
