Guillon's pain no surprise

Though everyone else was made aware of it when he didn't play Saturday, quarterback Marc Guillon 's back troubles were nothing new to those on Alabama's football team.
"He's been sore for a couple of weeks," Tide offensive coordinator Dave Rader said. "I didn't really know if he was going to be able to play the South Carolina game."
Guillon's back spasms limited him during practice Sunday night and Tuesday afternoon. By Wednesday, coaches felt the best chance may lie with backup Spencer Pennington , who had seen most of the snaps in practice those days.
Pennington was told Thursday he'd be the starter.
"You're always going to be nervous anytime you're taking the snaps, especially when you're on the road in an SEC game," Pennington said. "But I have to understand that not every game is going to be like that."
While not spectacular, Pennington's solid 7-for-11, 83-yard, zero interception performance in Saturday's 45-17 victory at Kentucky means he'll head into practice tonight as Alabama's No. 1 quarterback.
"And we'll go from there," Shula said. <snip> http://www.ledger-enquirer.com/mld/ledgerenquirer/sports/colleges/university_of_alabama/9885597.htm
