MOBILE, Ala. (AP) Former NFL linebacker Keith McCants was indicted on a charge that he stole a vehicle from a car dealership. He was indicted last Friday and the case will be assigned to a circuit court judge in the next month or so, the prosecutor's office said. He was arrested in December and accused of failing to return a 1998 sport utility vehicle that later was recovered. His lawyer said his client was allowed to drive the car from the lot. "He kept it longer than he was supposed to," Richard R. Williams said. "The car broke down at a particular location and he called them." Billy McGill, the dealership's general manager, said police were called when McCants didn't return the vehicle after two or three hours. The 36-year-old McCants starred at Alabama and was drafted by Tampa Bay with the fourth overall pick in 1990. He also played for Houston and Arizona and retired in 1995. Copyright 2005 al.com.
