I listen when I can, mostly because I know some of the callers personally, and Paul usually has stories breaking hours to weeks ahead of the rest of the area media.
The key to Paul is that he is different from the other knob-polishers on the radio. No, he doesn't know sports. But he knows how to get a story. He's one of the few people around this market that knows how to be a journalist, and has the talent to package it in a form that will appeal to a broad range of people. And y'all know that most of the Vickers / Paul interaction is staged, right? If you'll notice it usually happens when there's a dead news time, or there's an issue out that everyone else has beaten to death? They do it to get callers to call and listeners to listen.
