Hi Mengmeng

see inline:

1. This draft describes several protection mechanisms. How to use them in
an SR network?
[Reply:] In section 4, the deployment schemes of BE and TE scenarios are given
respectively. The BE scenario uses TI-LFA local protection, and BFD detects
link and neighbor status; The TE scenario uses Policy-hot-standby, BFD detects
the policy state, and takes the BE path as the backup of TE. Use VPN-FRR when
there are multiple exit PEs

2. I noticed that local protection is also included in Section 3.1 "Path
Protection". Why do you classify the protection mechanisms into path protection
and egress protection? What is your considerations for this classification?
[Reply:] Because SR forwarding paths are divided into TE and BE, local
protection can be used in the case of TE loose paths and BE paths.
The third section is classified according to the protected objects. Path
protection includes local protection and end-to-end path protection.
Local protection, which protects the direct link or node failure.
End-to-end path protection refers to TE path protection.
Egress node protection refers to the failure of the egress node.
Therefore, according to different fault locations, it can be divided into path
protection and egress protection.

changwang

Hi Yisong,

I went through new version of your draft. From an SP's point of view, the draft
provides very valuable considerations on the deployment of SR network. I have
two further questions:

1. This draft describes several protection mechanisms. How to use them in an SR
network?
2. I noticed that local protection is also included in Section 3.1 "Path
Protection". Why do you classify the protection mechanisms into path protection
and egress protection? What is your considerations for this classification?

Hi All

We have posted a new version of the SR protection considerations draft. In this
draft both the protection mechanisms of MPLS-SR and SRv6 are included. So, we
have replaced the original draft-liu-rtgwg-srv6-protection-considerations with
this draft.

Main changes are as follows:
1. In section 2, BE/TE paths on MPLS-SR data plane are added.
2. In section 3, descriptions of protection on MPLS-SR data plane are added.
3. Example in section 4.1 is changed to MPLS-SR.

If you have any questions and comments with this draft, please don't hesitate
to let us know.

Best Regards
Yisong
