A press conference has been organized by the Sahar Citizen Forum to
highlight the grievances of the residents of Sahar as well as the forceful
acquisition of Church/Graveyard/School etc belonging to Christian community.
Venue of the Press Conference:
*Our Lady of **Health** **Church**, Sahar, Near Sahar Cargo Complex, **
Sahar** **Village**, Mumbai ( School Hall ).* *Time and date : 4.00 p.m. on
Thursday 22nd November 2007*
The Church of Our Lady of Health Church, Sahar, Mumbai is intended to be
acquired for expansion of the Mumbai International Airport, which is being
privately developed by Mumbai International Airport Ltd. The proposed
expansion of the airport will be mainly catering to the demands of shopping
malls, convention centres, five star hotels etc.
* **The **Bombay** Catholic Sabha is upset at such a move and will support
the just campaign of the locals.*
We have a similar situation being faced by nine Churches in Gorai Manori
region of Mumbai, are under the treat of acquisition for setting up of
proposed Special Economic [Entertainment]Zone by a private party with
assistance of UPA/DF Governments. The entire area which is proposed to be
developed is ecologically sensitive area.
*We urge you to join in large numbers. We will also plan our next course of
action. Be alert, motivate others and pass this message around.*
