In a recent decision Shri Shailendra Verma V/s Nuclear Power Corporation of India Ltd, where the requested information on technical examination was rejected u/s 8(1)(j) the CIC referred to U.K. Data Protection Act, 1998 and the U.S. Law of Torts to define "sensitive personal data and "Intrusion to Privacy". The CIC directed the respondent to provide the information. The CIC also ruled that "If the CPIO is of the view that providing this information would be detrimental to the safety of the preservation of the record in question, he will arrange inspection by appellant".
