The Central gov ernment is in talks with various telecom companies to
establish a call centre helpline for people to file their RTI applications
on the phone.

Minister of state Prithviraj Chavan stated that the Bihar model of making
RTI more accessible to the poor and illiterate has been found to be feasible
and the government wanted to replicate it across the country.

He stated that the department of personnel and training, the nodal agency
for RTI, had decided to implement the project on a pilot basis.
The plan was to convert a phone call into an RTI application.
