Dear Group members. I am a designated PIO. I received some of the RTI applications in which cost of the information was intimated to the information seeker within a week period of time. The cost of the information ranging from 100 to 4000. Details of calculation also intimated. In case of further information, the information seeker also advised to visit my office for inspection of records.After a lapse of four months still no payment is received. The RTI applications are still pending with me. How long I may have to wait for the payment? As a PIO I have to send monthly reports as well as quarterly reports showing the pending status of application. Is there any time limit for payment of cost?
It was also found through some other sources that the RTI application was filed by the applicant on behalf of the third party (hidden information seeker). Now the applicant is expecting the third party to pay the cost. However the applicant is not interested neigther information nor to pay the cost. If the third party is paying the cost, he will pay and collect the information. As a PIO I am ready to provide the information. Any one suggest the time limit for payment to the cost of information??
