PROMISES TO KEEP A Critical Review of Election Manifestos
Panel Discussion: 8 Apr (4.30 to 7.30pm) - IIC Annexe (Lecture Hall), New Delhi Dear Friends, Civil society groups and networks have been extensively engaged in the effort to influence the national agenda in the run-up to the Lok Sabha Elections 2009. The reflection of several considerations raised by civil society in the statement of intent of national and regional parties provides cause to celebrate the vibrant people's political process in the country. However, this is also a time for us to take stock of the priorities that have emerged across political parties and its implications for future social action and advocacy efforts. In this context, we invite your participation in a Panel Discussion that aims to critically review the promises that have been made by Political Parties in the context of the National Elections. The discussion aims to identify the existing commitments made across key sectors, identify important demands that may have been missed and outline priorities for action towards the post-election agenda. We trust that you will find it worthwhile to engage with this discussion and look forward to your active involvement in enabling a meaningful dialogue.
