Few years back, Teen aged boy Desai died in Nande Tank due to impure water
attracting claim of Rs. 45 Lakhs ( matter subjudiced) against PMC.
RTI Application was filed with an intent to check whether concerned officers
take care about safety of Kids & Purity of water.
Received reply from Bibwewadi ward officer ( Out No 05 dtd 8/4/09) Part
A,herein below)
Question is “ Will this RTI Application serve as a messenger to concerns or
will it gather dust similar to Fire Safety RTI Application resulting into
death of killing Seven innocent PMC employees ?” . Subsequent resignations of
officers or monetary compensation really serves no purpose.
Also what about safety & purity of water relating to Pvt Pools i.e Tilak
Tank, Chaitnya Health Club, Maharashtra Mandal, SP Tank etc ? What about
Cantonment, PCMC & Kirkee?

1) Inform & furnish me name & designation of officer who is supposed to
supervise/monitor/regulate swimming pools in PMC area?
PIO: Contractor Mr Pawale.( Bibwewadi Area)
2) Inform & furnish me total no of swimming Pools in PMC area
PIO : No answer.
a) Owned/supervised/constructed on PMC’s land which are used by Citizens with
capacity ( As per Rules & actual
PIO: PMC Owned One. As per Rule Capacity 75 & Actual 25
b) Owned/supervised/constructed by Private owners used by Citizens/ Public
with capacity by Rules & actual
PIO : PMC not concerned.
3) Inform & furnish guideline/rules/circular/notification/correspondence to
check purity of water?
PIO : PMC Check water & if found impure we close Tanks.
4) Inform & furnish me guideline/rules/circular/notification/correspondence
about system( precautions) / in charge of swimming tank take?
PIO: a) No entry without parents to Children below 12.
b) Strict warning given to Kids Don’t dive if tank is more than 10 feet,
5) Inform & furnish me latest three years record of relating purity of water in
swimming tank?
PIO: From 2007 till date PMC checked water purity 9 times out of which 5 times
water was hygiene & 4 times impure
6) Inform & furnish me record relating number of life guards present/roll
master of swimming tank.
PIO: PMC not responsible as its responsibility of Contractor.
7) Inform & furnish me amount of claim lodged by Shri. Desai for death of his
son in Nande Tank few year’s back? Inform & furnish me status of case & details
of expenditure PMC made on said case? Inform & furnish me number of
adjournments tank by PMC in Trial court/High Court/Supreme Court Desai case.
Inform & furnish me the expenditure made by PMC is meet out of
1) Public Money
2) Pvt. Money
