The Pune Municipal Corporation has set out to ensure that information on its website is regularly updated and authentic. It is making it compulsory for officials to publish the date of posting every report, project and circular along with the name of the author. "The information loaded posted on www.punecorporation .org has to be regularly updated and should be authentic as it is accessed by many. We need to make it more credible. Regular updating with authors name will achieve that objective," said Rajan Erande, director of the PMC's IT department. "An Right to Information (RTI) activist had pointed to us that the information on the website falls under the RTI Act and the information should be accurate," he said, adding that the civic administration would also benefit from the suggestion of furnishing information of each document on the website. RTI activist Vihar Durve said it is mandatory for the civic administration to furnish such information on the website, but it is not updated regularly. "The responsibility for the document, which is either a report, a project or a circular, is not fixed and in the case of wrong information no one can be held for the fault," he said, adding that regular updating with the author's name would make the website more credible. *********** http://www.indianex press.com/ news/updates- with-authors- names-on- www.punecorporat ion.org/452002/ The Pune Municipal Corporation has set out to ensure that information on its website is regularly updated and authentic.
