RTI to PMO on death due to starvation of threeTiger cubs at Tadoba Tiger
Reserve Chandrapur Maharashtra

Info asked & recd

I had attached an article in Loksatta ( Marathi edition of Indian Express)
dated April 3 2009 about the subject Titled “ No Saviors for Tigers” – The
article described the plight of tigers in tadoba – basically they have
nowhere to go – govt sanctioned money never reaches the place affected,
most of the postings of forest dept are only on papers & there is lack of
manpower. The way things are going, the article concludes with, ----it
appears that the tiger has lost the will to make any efforts for survival.
In short, it is heart breaking article.

1) Has anybody in PMO brought this matter ( starvation deaths of tiger
cubs) to the attention of our Prime Minister ?
2) What steps, if any, have been taken by the PM and / or PMO on the subject
3) We understand mining companies are queuing up to destroy this habitat of
tigers ( and other forest living creatures) with tacit support of prime
minister's office. Has PM / PMO interfered in any way in giving approvals
to mining companies at Chandrapur Maharashtra.
4) I recollect our PM ( as per media reports) spent sleepless nights when
Australian Govt had jailed a suspected terrorist from ( H' Bad)India, Is
our PM able to get good sleep in spite of such horrendous treatment to
innocent animals of our country?
The RTI application is copied to
1.CJI
2.President
3.Dean of Cambridge University: with a request to strip our PM of his
qualifications awarded by the university for failing to protect the animals
inspite of having powers to do so as Prime Minister of India.

1) No information is available in this regard in this office.
2) Question does not arise , in light of response to point no 1 above.
3) A letter was received from Smt. Maneka Gandhi MP regarding the proposal
of Adani Group to set up a coal mine in the vicinity of the Tadoba Andhari
Tiger Reserve in Chandrapur District Maharashtra. The same was sent to
Ministry of coal vide this office's ID no 200/31/ c/08-ES I dated
17.10.2008 for action as appropriate. Ministry of coal has further
forwarded this letter to the Ministry of Environment and Forests vide their
office Memorandum no 38039 / 26/ 2008-CA-I dated 20.11.2008 for action as
appropriate. Another representation dated 20.03.2009 from Sh. Sudhir
Mungantiwar MLA Maharashtra has also been forwarded to the Chief Secretary
Govt of Maharashtra vide this office's letter no 670/ 61/C/2/2009 ES-I
dated 13.04.2009 for action as appropriate.
4) This is not a matter of record held in this office.

Three tiger cubs die due to starvation – PM who has been making tall
promises as below is not even aware of starvation deaths of tiger cubs .
“Government fully committed to tiger conservation: Manmohan Singh”
“The Chief Ministers have been asked to take personal charge of Tiger
conservation and forest management.: Manmohan Singh”

Normally one would think at least his office will keep track of the
happenings on this subject but they are also busy doing something else. But
they are neither aware nor interested in the subject , it appears. This is
the condition of our National Animal. As a bench of SC Judge has said
recently “Even God will not be able to save this country. In India even if
God comes down he cannot change our country. Our country's character has
gone. We are helpless,” a bench of Justices BN Aggrawal and GS Singhvi
observed.

Thanks & Rgds
