The incident of throwing out the appellant by employees of KIC and connected
incident at KIC while I was assisting Mr. Nagesh to lodge the complaint at KIC
had been informed yesterday to Sri. K.K. Misra and my version of the complaint
which will be submitted during the course of the day is given below for the
knowledge of the Activist:-

Dear Sir,
Sub: Misbehaviour & verbal abuse by the KIC employees.
Further to the meeting I and Mr. Nagesh had with you yesterday around 6-30 Pm
in your chamber I like to submit the following facts:
Yesterday (17.06.09) around 4-30 Pm Mr. Nagesh an appellant narrated to me his
unfortunate experience in the Court hall No.3 where he was physically
assaulted in the forenoon and he indicated that he would lodge a written
complaint against some employees of the Karnataka Information Commission who
were involved in the incident. On the request of Kria Katte Convenor Sri. Guru
Ravindranath I accompanied Mr. Nagesh for filing the written complaint and
thereafter to meet Chief Information Commissioner to apprise him of the matter.
We went to the court hall no.1 and found you were busy with appeal hearings.
So we waited for an hour, after which we proceeded to your office with the
intention of waiting there till you were free. Sri. Narasimha typist in your
office started questioning me as to why I was accompanying Mr. Nagesh. When I
pointed out that I was under no obligation to give any explanation to him, he
resorted to verbal abuse and called names in kannada. Meanwhile another
employee, Sri. B. Gangadhar also joined him. I told them that as a Kria Katte
active member I had every right to protect Mr. Nagesh, upon which they
threatened that they would physically throw out both of us. I challenged
them to do so; then yet another employee, Sri. Krishnoji came and threatened
that they would request Income Tax authorities to raid the houses of RTI
Activists since they were making a lot of money by misusing RTI. I challenged
them to go ahead and complain to any
authority including Central Bureau of Investigation(CBI). Just then some more
employees whose names are not known to us came out and joined their colleagues
in abusing us. Hearing the commotion Sri. H.N. Krishna came out and tried
pacify me by narrating his version of the morning incident. I explained to him
that the purpose of my visit was to apprise the Chief Information Commissioner
about the incident.
Needless to add, we were shocked by the misbehavour of some staff of the KIC. I
hope you will also agree when I say that this kind of misbehaviour on the part
of your staff will only tarnish the image of the Karnataka information
Commission which is entrusted with the task of upholding RTI and that such
behaviour towards common citizens, much less towards civil society activists,
is unacceptable.
I request you to look into the matter and take appropriate penal action against
the employees involved so as to prevent recurrence of such incident in future.
