Right to Information Act is going to complete two decades of its struggle
and is celebrating fourth anniversary of its successful implementation. The
dream of transparent system in the country has been turned into reality and
people have started realizing their rights, feeling empowered and raising
their voice against corruption in the system…the credit goes to Right to
Information Act…

Be it upliftment of marginalized section of society, the case of file
noting, issue of assets of judges or the case of disclosure of UPSC answer
papers, Right to Information has paved a way for people and has acted as a
guiding light for them…



*About Film Festival:*



The films made on Right to Information has played a major role in
disseminating the usage of Act among people…and this usage of Right to
Information and its effect on the life of common man has been beautifully
taken up by various filmmakers…The main motive of this film festival is to
bring all such films (dealing with work done in the direction of achieving a
transparent system) in front of public and to make them realize that the
crying need of the hour is not to complain but to act…Our initiative is also
aimed at providing a platform for all kind of films highlighting the
struggles of common man and the role of Right to Information in changing
their lives for the better.

The films will be selected by a screening committee with a fine eye for
detail. Comprising of experts from various fields, to name a few :* *

   - Wajahat Habibullah (Central Chief Information Commissioner)
   - Jagadananda (State Information Commissioner, Orissa)
   - Arvind Kejriwal (Noted RTI Activist)
   - Kumar Vishwas (Well-known Poet)
   - Vinay Mahajan (Leading Singer-Poet & Activist, Loknaad)
   - Abhinandan Sekhri (Writer, Gustakhi Maaf / Great Indian Tamasha, NDTV)

 *Call for Entry:*



We are pleased to invite filmmakers to take part in the International Right
to Information Film Festival to be held in New Delhi, India during October
7-11, 2009.

The film makers are invited to showcase their documentaries and short films
on Right to Information / Freedom of Information / Access to Information and
on issues like self-governance, transparency and accountability. The entries
can include the success stories, grassroots initiatives, community efforts,
issues and solutions. Individuals having copies of films related to above
issues and which are free for public distribution can also contribute to the
festival. There will be an exhibition of audio visual and print material
like booklet, films, brochures, posters, pamphlet on RTI, along with
screening of films. We invite contributions for the exhibition as well. The
Festival is open for the public. The festival will take off from Delhi
(national capital city) and we plan to carry it forward to other major
cities of the country. Tentative program for Lucknow, Bhubaneshwar and
Bhopal is being worked upon.



v     To make entry send 2 copies of DVD/ VCDs (well packaged) to us by post
along with the complete submission form attached with this mail. Also email
a copy of submission form to the email address mentioned below. Please make
sure that the information provided about the filmmaker and the film is
accurate and complete. We will prefer films with subtitles in English.
Enclose pictures or any promotional material if possible. To know more about

v     In case the film is available or could be made available for download
from internet, international participant can send the details along with the
form.



v     Films will be accepted within two categories: Approx 10 minutes and
approx 30 minutes.



v     Films and submission forms must reach us by 15 September, 2009.
